About Us

In 1953, Bert McDonald and his partner founded Tartan Transport & Construction Ltd. Overall management responsibility was eventually passed over to second and third generation family members, and the company was later renamed Tartan Industrial Contractors Ltd. Today, the company is wholly owned by Tartan Canada Corporation.

Tartan Industrial’s first customer was Imperial Oil, which was operating at that time in the Redwater field. This particular geographic region remains an important focus today for Tartan Industrial, as evidenced by a recently constructed 14,000 square foot fabrication shop in our Redwater operating center.

We purchased our Conklin site in 2008, and have been expanding and enhancing its infrastructure since that time, including a recently completed 5,000 square foot shop and onsite fabrication facility. Our objective in having our Conklin location is to provide local and on-demand mechanical services. We have completed work for all of the producers in the Conklin area, including Devon Canada Corporation, Cenovus Energy, MEG Energy Corp., Petrobank Energy and Resources Ltd., and Statoil ASA.
